The Million Book Project harnesses the power of literature to counter what prison does to the spirit. Founded and directed by poet and lawyer Reginald Dwayne Betts the Project’s mission is to build a 500-book Freedom Library and place it in prisons in every state in this country.

So far, the author has written 1.8 million words and killed off 3,717 characters of "Winds of Winter," the sixth volume in the seven book series.

I'm not sure why someone would say they're expensive; if you use their coupons and discounts available to almost any group the books are cheaper than on Amazon. I check nearly every book I buy there against Amazon, typically they're cheaper or no more than a dollar or two more. The staff is friendly and helpful.
